Thursday, October 20, 2016

La Paloma Airport was presented as an opportunity to increase the flow of tourists and improve the economy in the area but three years after it started operations, only one airline is operating two flights per week to the terminal. reports that "...Union representatives from the tourism sector agree that lack of public investment in infrastructure, conditions of hotels and other tourist sites on the island are the factors influencing the demand in the segment of visitors who travel by air, as these are tourists who have higher standards."

The secretary of the Association of Hotels of Nicaragua, Miguel Romero, "... lamented that "commercial flights have been reduced, the island itself has seen a reduction in tourism, while at the same time the process of providing permanent power has not continued ( ...) and the number of tourists has gone down, that has meant that large hotels have stopped making investments".
