Odebrecht to Expand Metro Line 2

Together with FCC Construccion, the controversial Brazilian construction company won the contract to design and build the branch of Line 2 of the Panama Metro, which will connect the future ITSE with the Tocumen international airport.

On November 27th, the award resolution was published, which consists of design engineering services, construction of civil works, auxiliary line installations and stations, and interfaces for the operation of the branch that connects Line 2 of the Panama Metro with the Instituto Tecnico Superior del Este (I.T.S.E.) and Tocumen International Airport (AIT).

The resolution details that it is awarded "... to Consorcio Linea 2 Ramal, formed by Constructora Norberto Odebrecht, S.A. (60%) and FCC Construccion, S.A. (40%), for a total amount of $88,075,008.26."

In the Commission's evaluation, Consorcio Linea 2 Ramal (Ode/FCC) was the highest rated bid, with a score of 908, followed by Consorcio Linea Aeropuerto (OHL/Mota-Engil), with 887 points, and Acciona Construcción, with 709.

In view of its commitment to transparency, Metro de Panama reports that after an extensive process it today completed the review and signing of the Contract for construction of Metro Line 2.

FCC-Odebrecht to Build Panamanian Metro

Line 1 Consortium was awarded construction of the first line of the Panama Metro.

The winning consortium's proposal was $ 1,446 million, higher than the one presented by Italian Group Metro Panama which was 1,401 million.

Prensa.com reports, "However, the proposed technical qualification by Line 1 Consortium, which was more important, received 578 points and his opponent 358 points."

Odebrecht and Impregilo Submit Bids for Panama Metro

Only two consortiums have presented offers for the design and construction of the first line of the Panama Metro.

The consortium led by Impregilo also includes Astaldi, Ghella and Ansaldo Breda Trains, while that led by Odebrecht also comprises Spanish owned FCC Construcción and Alstom Trains.
