OECD Pressure on Panama

The country has still not resolved issues related to the elimination of bearer shares and changes in the dealing with registered companies.

The subjects of the regime of registered companies and bearer shares are two pending issues over which Panama must soon take action, before its consideration of fiscal transparency is submitted in September.

An evaluation by the Global Forum of the Organization for Economic Development (OECD) has been scheduled for that month, reported Prensa.com.

The most important modification requested by the organization is the removal of bearer shares. The banking sector has already decided to "deny new accounts to entities with bearer shares, but lawyers still don't reach an agreement, and the government hasn't issued a definitive position yet".
