Non-Alcoholic Beverages: $225 Million in Business

In the first six months of 2019, the countries of the region imported $225 million in soft drinks, 4% more than in the same period in 2018.

Regional Imports Increase
Between January and June 2018 and the same period in 2019, the value imported into the region increased by 4%, from $217 million to $225 million.

For the periods in question, purchases from U.S. companies grew 14%, from $41.7 million to $47.3 million.

Guatemala, Main Buyer
During the first half of last year, the main buyer of non-alcoholic beverages in Central America continued to be Guatemala, with $51 million, followed by Panama, with $50 million, Honduras, with $34 million, El Salvador, with $33 million, Nicaragua, with $29 million and Costa Rica, with $28 million.

Most Important Suppliers
From January to June 2019, 21% of the value imported into the region came from the US, 5% from Mexico, 4% from South Korea and 2% from Taiwan.

Regarding the total imports coming from the same countries in the region, for the months in question last year the exchange between Central American companies reached 63% of the total purchased, equivalent to $142 million.
