Nicaragua to host regional tourism fair

Nicaragua will host the Central American Travel Market – Catam 2008 – from October 10 through 12.

Catam is a trade fare that allows travel wholesalers from the United States, Europe and Asia to get to known Central America's tourist destinations and find a place for them in their catalogues.
Lucy Valenti, president of the Nicaraguan Tourism Chamber (Canatur) said that 200 wholesalers are expected to attend the event, and almost all the available stands have been snapped up already.

From October 6 to 8 San Salvador will be hosting a regional tourism promotion fair, in which it is expected that 80 wholesalers from Europe, the US and South America will take part.

The eleventh edition of the event will be organized by the Ministry of Tourism of El Salvador and the Federation of Chambers of Tourism of Central America.

The National Toursim Chamber is preparing for the third edition of the international fair which will take place on the 13th and 14th of April 2012 in Nicaragua.

The event, in which 130 national companies are expected to take part in, alongside 35 to 40 wholesalers from Europe, The United States, Central America and Canada, has as its goal to make people aware of the riches, both natural and cultural, that Nicaragua has to offer to international tourism, and its advantages over other destinations in the region.

Guatemala is to host the seventh regional CATM tourism show.

The event will take place on 18, 19 and 20 October in Antigua Guatemala.

Central America Travel Market (CATM) brings together technical experts and professionals from the Central American tourism industry and gives people the opportunity to build commercial relationships between suppliers and wholesalers in international markets such as Europe, Asia and South America.

Tourism stakeholders from Central America will meet once again at CATM, a fair that is rotated annually throughout the region and that will be held in Nicaragua from October 10-12.

"This event draws sellers from all over Central America who come to offer their services and buyers who come to purchase them," the Salvadoran Minister of Tourism, Ruben Rochi, explained.
