Nicaragua - Cuba Trade Agreement

The agreement approved by the National Assembly of Nicaragua allows entry into the Cuban market of products such as meat, milk, honey and black beans.

The agreement, which aims to extend preferential entry of goods into Cuba, includes tax treatments and sanitary and phytosanitary measures to be observed in the exchange of products.

"The agreement, which was approved by a vote by 81 MPs from both the ruling party and the opposition, had been sent "to emergency procedure" by the executive branch, headed by Daniel Ortega, revealed the National Assembly through its press service . "

"The National Assembly reported that Nicaragua expects to obtain products related to manufacturing, biotechnology, metallurgy, as well as consultancy on tourism. The date of entry into force of the agreement was not disclosed."

Nicaragua Seeks More Trade with Cuba

Honduran Trade Mission In Taiwan

The Honduran has been in Taipei since Monday and will stay until 20 August.

According to a press release from Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the visit aims to build closer ties and enable mutual cooperation.

"During its stay on the island, the Honduran team will see success of the Taiwanese 'product for every village' program, which seeks to encourage local craft industries, and the digital education project, supported by the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, or APEC," reports La Tribuna.

Guatemala and Cuba Expand Trade Agreement

Beginning in August, an access committee will be opened to Cuba in order to expand trade relations between the two countries.

The access to Cuba committee will be initially composed of by government representatives from Guatemala and Cuba. According to the Prensalibre.com, the Guatemalan vice-minister of foreign trade, David Cristiani, said: “The idea is to expand the list of products ready to be commercially traded within the partial agreement with Cuba.”

The agreement is looking to expand the FTA between the two countries, widening the relationship in the political and cooperation fields.

Billateral commerce rose 1400% since the signing in 1994 of the FTA between both countries. Now, the intention is to strengthen the relationshipt with strategic agreements in environment and coordinated action in multilateral bodies such as the United Nations Security Council.
