Nicaragua: Online Foreign Trade Procedures

By mid-year the Single Window for Foreign Trade could be functioning, enabling online procedures to be used for obtaining permits and documents required for export or import.

Monday, February 27, 2017

The Ministry of Development, Industry and Trade (MIFIC) announced that in May pre customs formalities for exports and imports in Nicaragua will be able to be done online through the Foreign Trade Single Window (known as VUCEN in Spanish).

The owner of the MIFIC, Orlando Solorzano, explained to El19digital.com that "...'An online platform will allow articulation of several institutions where entrepreneurs can apply for permits and documents. Through the VUCEN documents for export and import can be processed, in addition to the permits needed for foreign trade. We will be organizing things online without the user having to go to each of the institutions that grant authorization for a given permission.'"

Solórzano added that "... the system already exists, adding that tests have been carried out with companies and national banks, so therefore it is expected that the system will be fully operational between May and June this year."
