$38 million Roadworks Tender

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure in Nicaragua is calling for bids for the renovation and improvement of the road from Nejapa to Puerto Sandino.

At an estimated cost of about $38 million, provided by the Central American Bank for Economic Integration, the improvement works will be carried out on 50 miles of this road.

"It is expected that the repair to this section of road will take at least 18 months and the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, as the executing agency of the project, will be receiving proposals up to April 9 this year.

The aim is to improve and renovate the road which will be done in hydraulic concrete 18 cm thick, as well as carrying out work on drainage", reported Vladimir Vásquez for Laprensa.com.ni

With an investment of between $20 and $25 million, the Ministry of Public Works is putting out to tender the widening of the stretch of road going from Pozuelo Factory up to the Funeraria Jardines del Recuerdo.

According to Pedro Castro, chief of Public Works and Transport (MOPT), the tender is ready, they're just waiting on resolving an environmental issue and if there are no setbacks the project will be published next week in the La Gaceta.

Nicaragua: $38 million for Road Infrastructure

Congress has approved a loan to finance the rehabilitation and improvement of the section of road from Empalme Nejapa to Empalme Puerto Sandino.

A press release of the National Assembly of Nicaragua reads:

The National Assembly approved on November 14, a loan to finance the renovation and improvement of the road section Nejapa-Splice Splice Puerto Sandino.

Nicaragua Invites Tenders for $66.5 Million Military Hospital

The contract comprises the delivery of more than 47,000 m2 of construction work at the 476 bed hospital.

Together with the contract for the construction work, another competitive tender was announced for the provision of services to supervise the works.

Offers should be received by 4 May 2011.
