Nicaragua Invests $3.5 Million In Electric Power Substations

The National Electricity Transmission Company (Enatrel) is building or remodeling 6 electric power substations.

Substation Boaco will start operating in June, featuring a new 25 MVA (Mega Volt Ampere) transformer.

Enatrel will also invest over $3.3 million in improving 5 other substations, in order to improve the quality of the rural electric transmission network. This project is funded with loans from the Inter American Development Bank.

A substation with a transformation capacity of 69 Kv to 13.8 Kv and 69 Kv power lines is planned to be built in Nueva Santa Rosa, Guatemala.

Transportista Eléctrica Centroamericana, S.A. presented to the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources the Environmental Impact Study (EIA) to develop the project called, "New Santa Rosa Substation of 14 MVA of Transformation Capacity from 69 Kv to 13.8 Kv and its 69 Kv power lines."

Works on Electrical Substations for $44 million

The Electric Transmission Company of Panama has submitted an Environmental Impact Study for work on the Llano Sanchez electrical substation.

The project consists of the "installation of 1 Static Var Compensator (SVC) with capacity of + 120 / -30 MVAR in the Llano Sánchez 230 KV Electrical Substation."

Nicaragua: $130 million for Electricity Works and Roadworks

The IDB is providing $40 million in financing for construction of power substations in the north and $90 million for renovation of roads in Jinotega and Chontales.

From a statement issued by the National Assembly of Nicaragua:

$40 million for electrical substations

A $40 million loan signed with the Interamerican Development Bank (IDB) was approved on February 16 by the plenary, which will be used to fund the construction of three new substations.

Nicaragua Seeks Funds for Electricity Substations

The government is building eight substations and is looking for funding to develop eight more in different regions.

At the moment in Nicaragua 8 electric substations are under construction and another eight are planned for 2016. The Government of the country is looking for funding for these projects, whose cost is estimated at $27 million.
