Nicaragua: Exports Bamboo to Haiti

CO2Bambú made its first shipment of prefabricated kits of bamboo for construction for transitional shelters.

The U.S. capital company has been marketing bamboo for three years in Nicaragua.

Mauricio Alas, Production and Supply Manager of the company, said that they are focusing on social shelters for the Haitian market.

"CO2bambú Haiti has partnered with the World Bamboo Organization, OMB, to make shelters and already has a contract with the Lutheran World Federation, LWF, as part of its program to build 2,000 homes in that country", reported Elnuevodiario.com.ni.

Nicaragua as Peanut Oil Exporter

Nicaragua is the third largest exporter of peanut oil in the world and its main market is the Netherlands to which it exported $19.4 million worth in 2012.

El Salvador's Lactosa Enlarges Market

The company expects to widen the market for its dairy products next year, by exporting to Mexico and the Caribbean.

Vilma de Calderón, CEO of Lactosa, indicates that the company currently produces for the domestic market and exports to Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua, where it has subsidiaries.
