Nicaragua: Daily Expenditure of Tourists Up 8%

In 2016 the average duration of tourist visits was 9% higher than in 2015, and daily spending grew by 8% compared to the previous year.

From a report by the Central Bank of Nicaragua:

The Central Bank of Nicaragua (BCN) published on March 21, 2017, its Annual Report, with the main indicators from the 2016 Tourism Survey.

In 2016, the average stay of inbound tourists was 9.5 days, reflecting a variation of 9.2 percent compared to 2015. The average daily per capita spending of these visitors was $44.8 (8.0% compared to 2015).

Nicaragua and Tourism in 2018

The union of tourism entrepreneurs estimates that the country will receive 1.9 million tourists, and they expect the activity to generate close to $830 million.

Combining efforts on promotion and marketing in order to attract more tourists from South American countries is one of the goals proposed by the National Chamber of Tourism (Canatur). Figures from the trade union indicate that the average daily expenditure of South American tourists exceeds the general average.

Panama: Tourist Spending Slows

In the first nine months of the year, tourist spending in the country grew by 2.7% compared to the same period last year, well below the 11% increase registered between 2015 and 2016.

Figures from the Comptroller General of the Republic show that at the end of the third quarter of the year tourists who visited Panama spent $3.499 billion, while in the same period in 2016 theses expenses amounted to $3.407 billion.

November 2016

The average daily expenditure per capita rose by 8.5% compared to the previous quarter, led mainly by increased spending by visitors from Europe.

From the report "Tourism Survey III Quarter 2016" by the Central Bank:

In the third quarter of 2016 in terms of inbound tourism, the average daily expenditure per capita recorded a rise of 8.5 percent compared with the previous quarter, mainly driven by increased spending by visitors from Europe (36.1%). The interannual variation of average expenditure was 18.2 percent. In contrast, the average length of stay recorded a fall of 7.5 percent compared with the previous quarter, impacted by less stays by tourists from Europe (-34.3%) and South America (-15.7%). The annual rate of change of the average length of stay was -7.9 percent.

Tourism Numbers in El Salvador

October 2014

Between January and July 2014 the number of tourists who came into the country increased by 4.7% compared to the same period in 2013, and they spent on average $108.6 per day, which is 3% more.

From a statement issued by the Ministry of Tourism of El Salvador:

The main tourism indicators (employment, income, daily expenses, lodging, number of visitors) reported significant growth in the first seven months of the year, confirming the strength of the tourism industry in the Salvadoran economy. The indicator for job creation in tourism in the month of June 2014 shows an increase of 5.93% compared to the same month in 2013, with more than 48,893 versus the 46,154 jobs recorded in 2013.
