In June, the consumer price index recorded a drop of 0.10%, accumulating inflation of 2.06% so far this year.

From a report by the Central Bank of Nicaragua: 

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) showed a monthly variation of -0.10 percent (-0.02% in June 2015), mainly explained by the performance of prices of some goods and services in the divisions of Food and non alcoholic beverages (-0.79%), Communications (-1.28%), and Recreation and culture (-0.31%), which together contributed -0.334 percentage points to the observed variation. In contrast, in the division of Housing, water electricity, gas and other fuels there was a variation of 0.97 percent (0.082 pp).

In cumulative terms, domestic inflation was 2.06 percent (1.56% in June 2015), influenced by the behavior of prices in Restaurants and hotels, Education, and Food and non-alcoholic beverages, together contributing 1,149 percentage points. 

On the other hand, annual inflation stood at 3.56 percent, 0.26 percentage points lower than in June 2015, and core inflation was 4.00 percent (6.87% as of June 2015) .

After reaching the highest level this year with 5.6% in June, the price index reported a variation of 5.2% in August compared to the same month in 2017.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) showed a decrease of 0.24% (-0.03% in August 2017), explained mainly by the behavior of prices in some goods and services in the divisions of Food and non-alcoholic beverages  (- 0.75%), Recreation and culture (-3.88%) and Communications (-0.06%), which together contributed -0.4 percentage points to the observed variation, reported the Central Bank of Nicaragua (BCN).

Nicaraguan Inflation Accelerates

In May and June, the Consumer Price Index recorded year-on-year variations of 5.2% and 5.6%, exceeding the average inflation rate of 4.9% reported in the first four months of the year.

Ever since the political and social crisis in the country became accentuated, the general price indicator has shown a clear upward trend, which is reflected in the behavior of the inflationary rhythm of the last two months.

In June, there was a monthly variation of 0.05%, mainly explained by the behavior of prices for water, electricity and gas, health, restaurants and hotels.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) showed a monthly variation of 0.05 percent (-0.10% in June 2016), mainly explained by the behavior of prices in some goods and services in the categories of Accommodation, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (0.96%), Health (1.18%) and Restaurants and hotels (0.39%), which together contributed 0.188 percentage points to the observed variation. In contrast, the category of Food and non-alcoholic beverages showed a variation of -0.68 percent (-0.222pp). [GRAFICA caption = "Click to interact with graphics"]

Nicaragua: Annual Inflation to November 2016 is 3,31%

December 2016

In November the consumer price index recorded a monthly variation of 0.27%, making inflation accumulated so far this year 2.31%.

From a report by the Central Bank of Nicaragua: 

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) showed a monthly variation of 0.27 percent (0.36% in November 2015), mainly explained by the behavior of prices of some goods and services in the divisions of Food and alcoholic drinks (0.22%); Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (0.86%); and Recreation and culture (1.93%), which together contributed 0.224 percentage points to the observed variation. In contrast, the division of Transport, showed a variation of -1.00 percent (-0,074pp).
