According to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the loan from the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (BCIE) will be for $65 million and will be used for construction of the road.
Elnuevodiario.com.ni reports that "...'The BCIE gave no objection to awarding (the loan).It is for 65 million", said the coordinator of the Communication and Citizenship Council, Rosario Murillo, who read the report of the MTI."
Murillo added that"...'30 (road) sections remain that are being managed with other sources of funding'.The government is seeking funds for the construction of road sections that allow for the connection of northern Nicaragua with the southern Caribbean."

The Ortega administration has announced that with a loan of $238 million from the BCIE, some 194 kilometers of road sections will be renovated in different areas of the country.
Vice-president Rosario Murillo stated that the project " ... which will be carried out starting from next year, includes construction of 194 kilometers in hydraulic concrete and paving stones in six stretches of roads distributed throughout the country."
The government has announced that with funding from the Japanese International Cooperation Agency four bridges will be built on the Caribbean coast, with a completion date of 2022.
The Ortega administration explained that $49 million relates to a loan signed with the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and another $10 million will be provided by the state.The bridges will be built on the Caribbean coast, in the areas of Prinzapolka, Labu, Lisawe and Mulukukú.
With a BCIE loan approved by the National Assembly, roads connecting the departments of Managua, Boaco, Chontales and Granada will be improved.

The National Assembly unanimously approved the Decree on a Loan to improve the road sections: Malacatoya - Victoria de Julio and Malacatoya- El Palo - El Papayal. The road infrastructurefinanced by the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (BCIE) will connect the departments of Managua, Boaco, Chontales and Granada.
The government has announced that it will be obtaining a loan from the Central American Bank for Economic Integration to rebuild 97 miles of roads and trails that connect with the Caribbean.
In order to improve links with the Caribbean, roads will be paved with reinforced concrete, stretching 44.6 kilometers from the town of Mulukukú to Siuna and 52.5 kilometers between the towns of Rama, Kukra Hill and the Junction of Laguna de Perlas.
