Nicaragua: 5% Annual Inflation up to March

In March prices fell by 0.01% mainly due to reductions in the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, housing, water and electricity.

From a report by the Central Bank of Nicaragua:

March's Monthly inflation stood at -0.01 percent (0.13% in December 2013), mainly determined by price declines in the divisions of food and non-alcoholic drinks; housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels; and communications, which in total contributed to -0.260 percentage points to the observed variation. It worth nothing that this decrease was partially offset by price increases in the divisions of transport and restaurants and hotels.

The accumulated national inflation stood at 1.38 percent (1.94% in March 2013), caused by the behavior of prices in the divisions of food and non-alcoholic beverages, education and transport, which together reported 64.7 percent of the cumulative result.

Finally, annual inflation stood at 5.10 percent (6.79% in March 2013), while core inflation was 4.96 percent, 1.85 percentage points lower than that recorded in March 2013.

During the seventh month of the year, the CPI recorded a monthly variation of -0.08%, mainly explained by the prices of Food and non-alcoholic beverages.

From a report by the Central Bank of Nicaragua:

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) showed a decrease of 0.08 percent (0.39% in July 2017), mainly explained by the behavior of prices in some goods and services in the divisions of Food and non-alcoholic beverages (-1.04% ); and Communications (-0.02%); which together contributed 0.364 percentage points to the observed variation. In contrast, the Transportation division showed an increase of 1.45 percent (0.112pp).

In April, the monthly variation was 0.32%, mainly explained by the behavior of transport and food and beverage prices.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) showed a monthly variation of 0.32 percent (0.14% in April 2016), mainly explained by the behavior of prices in some of the goods and services in Transportation (2.00%), Food and Non-alcoholic beverages (0.17%) and Recreation and culture (1.21%), which together contributed 0.253 percentage points to the variation observed. In contrast, in the division of Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels there was a variation of -0.76 percent (-0.068pp). [GRAFICA caption = "Click to interact with graphics"]

Nicaragua: Annual Inflation up to March 2016 is 3.66%

April 2017

The monthly variation in March was 0.12%, mainly explained by the behavior of prices of various goods and services and furniture and household items.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) showed a monthly variation of 0.12 percent (0.63% in March 2016), mainly explained by the behavior of prices of some goods and services in the divisions of miscellaneous goods and services (0.40%) Furniture, household items and routine household maintenance (0.31%) and Health (0.36%), which together contributed 0.068 percentage points to the observed variation. In contrast, in the division of Housing, water electricity, gas and other fuels there was a variation of -0.19 percent (-0.017pp). [GRAFICA caption = "Click to interact with graphics"]

Inflation Rises in Nicaragua

August 2014

Annual inflation up to July stood at 6.94%, with Food and Non Alcoholic Beverages, and Restaurants and Hotels being the categories which increased the most during the month of July.
