Nicaragua: $1,750 million Predicted in Exports from Free Zones

Exports from companies in the free zone in Nicaragua grew by 44% in the first four months of the year.

The Technical Secretary of the National Commission of Free Zones, Alvaro Baltodano announced projected exports of $1,750 million by the end of this year, of which the textile sector would provide $1,350 million.

"According to official data published by the Central Bank of Nicaragua (BCN), free zone exports, up to April, came to $530.4 million, compared $367.9 million in the same period last year."

"Baltodano said that besides the growth in exports, they also expect growth to continue this year in investment in the sector.

There are reports, he said, of two Taiwanese companies operating in the country who will increase their production by 20 to 30 percent", published Laprensa.com.ni

Zona Libre de Colon: Activity Keeps Rising

During the first nine months of the year, commercial activity in the Panamanian Free-Trade Zone exceeded $16 billion, 10% more than the same period in 2017.
