New date for purchase of buses in Panama

The bids for the purchase of 420 buses for the Transmovil system will be received on January 27.

Friday, January 16, 2009 reports: "It was clarified in the release that the "addendum for the transfer of the date for the reception of bids to acquire the 420 buses will be available on Panama Compra"."

Volvo Gets Order For 1000 Buses To Panama City

Volvo Buses has received an order for 1000 Volvo B7RLE bus chassis to Panama City. The customer is a consortium in Panama called Transmassivo and is led by the Colombian enterprise Fanalca Group.

40 Companies Interested in Panamanian Metro Bus

A ruling by the Supreme Court has virtually canceled the Transmóvil project to modernize Panamanian public transport.

The ruling by the Supreme Court has provisionally suspended payment of $25 thousand as compensation to owners of existing buses, preventing the state from appropriating the units as planned.

Grupo Q Wins $80 Million Bid

In Panama, Grupo Q won the bid to supply 420 buses for the “transmóvil” project for an amount of $79,981,240.

The Volvo consortium was disqualified during the process because its proposal did not contain an adequate maintenance plan for the vehicles offered.

In an article in, the scores from the evaluation were detailed: "Grupo Q was evaluated with a score 81.30% after its financial capacity was analyzed, an aspect that was worth 20% of the total score. Its administrative and technical experience represented 40% and its financial offer was worth another 40%."
