The Costa Rican National Statistics Institute conducted its latest survey, and found that unemployment stands at 7.3%.

Other relevant findings include:
-21.3% of all households are under the poverty line.
-6.0% of all households live in extreme poverty conditions.
-The global occupancy rate is 54.8%.
-The situation is better in the central area of the country, where unemployment stands at 6.9% and the occupancy rate at 56.8%.

The unemployment rate in Panama dropped to 4%, the lowest since numeral statistics have been kept, for over 40 years.

According to a Labor Market Survey conducted by the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC), the unemployment rate for August 2012 dropped to 4%, down 0.5% from the previous year when the rate of unemployed people was 4.5%.

Unemployment Stands at 7.1% in El Salvador

The Salvadoran government has announced that the unemployment rate reached 7.1% in July. While the figure is less than in the U.S., where 9.1% of active people can not find work, it is in line with the level of unemployment in other countries in Central America.

Record High Unemployment in Costa Rica

Costa Rica's unemployment rate stands at 7.8%, after increasing three points in a year.

The previous highest rate was recorded in 1985, when it hit 6.85%, according to data from the Planning Ministry.
