New Resort in Guatemala

A new 106-room hotel complex was inaugurated in the department of Retalhuleu, with the capacity to accommodate 440 guests.

The new resort, called "Hostal Aldea de la Selva" was built by the Institute for Recreation of Workers of Private Enterprise of Guatemala (IRTRA) on a 50,000 square meter property.

Prensalibre.com reports that the resort "... has 20 cabins built with different themes, air-conditioned environments and some with the option of living room and kitchen, 17 houses built on artificial themed trees."

It will also offer ".... 23 tents built in special canvas for outdoors, protection of an additional awning for each tent and are equipped with air conditioning, cable TV and 4 imperial beds. Also 10 huts built with themed wood type, which have air conditioning and cable TV. All with private bathroom."

The complex has green areas, a swimming pool and an open-air theatre. According to media reports, nearly $150 million was invested in the construction of the resort.

$200 Million Investment in Tourism Announced

Travis and Lucas Boychuk, promoters of the tourism project that will be located in Gavilán beach, reported that for the tourism development called "Surf Ranch Hotel & Resort-Emerald Coast Popoyo", they will be building condominiums, apartments, restaurants, an events center, commercial premises, swimming pools, a spa, casino, gym and other amenities.
