New Movie Theaters in Costa Rica

The investment company Kopper has invested $1 million to open four cinema rooms in the coastal town of Jaco.

The four rooms in the CitiCinemas complex, located in the Plaza Coral Mall, can accommodate 316 people. One of the rooms is for 3D films.

Victoria Padilla, Investment Marketing Manager for Kopper informed La Nación newspaper that the company plans to operate a VIP lounge at the new complex.

Cinema Market Grows in Costa Rica

Four companies have announced the investment of at least $14 million in the opening of 31 new cinemas during 2015.

The expansion of existing facilities and opening of new ones in different parts of the country is in response to the steady increase in cinema going as in 2013 alone 6 million people attended movie theaters in the country, representing an increase of 15% compared to number of tickets sold in 2011.

New Cinemas in El Salvador

The company will erect its third Cinépolis cinema complex in El Salvador, which has 5 screens and 3D digital format at a cost of $1.5 million, making Cinépolis’ total investment in the country $11 million.

Cinépolis Invests $5 Million in Guatemala

November 2011

The international chain has opened a new 10-screen cinema in the Portales mall.

Miguel Mier, chief operating officer at Cinépolis, said the complex has capacity for 1757 people, and includes a screen with XE Macro technology, which cost $850,000.

"We trust our partner, property developer Spectrum, to continue our expansion in Guatemala," said Mier.

The Mexican chain opened a new cinema complex at the Multiplaza mall in El Salvador.

The new center, which has 8 new movie theaters, will create 50 direct jobs and 120 indirect jobs.

The new theaters "total 1.810 ... seats available to the public, will also offer snack service with its characteristic flavored popcorn, soda, candy, coffee and crepes to complete the cinema experience,” states the article in Laprensagrafica.com..
