New Logistics Center Planned for Guatemala

A distribution center for refrigerated and frozen food products is planned to be built on an 8,780 square meter site in Zone 12 of the country's capital.

According to the interactive platform "Construction in Central America" of CentralAmericaData's Trade Intelligence Unit, Innovafoods, S.A. submitted to the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) to develop the project called, "Bajo Cero."

The document specifies that the total construction area of the project will be 10,946 square meters and will have a roofed area of 2,846 square meters. The external operating area of the logistics complex will be composed of a maneuvering yard for cargo vehicles, five loading and unloading bays, a temporary vehicle park and a control booth.

In the internal operating area there will be a space for loading and unloading that will be maintained at a temperature between 2 and 10 0C, a warehouse for storage of refrigerated products, two warehouses for frozen products and a prechamber for transfer.

The overall investment for this project is estimated at $5.3 million.

In a 13-hectare site in the province of Colón, Panama, a logistics park consisting of 5 buildings measuring 5,000 square meters each will be built.
