New Investments in Fast Food

KFC chain will invest $3 million to open three new restaurants and $1 million to remodel other locations already operating in the country.

The company reported that the new restaurants, which will begin operations in 2019, will be located in Escazú, Limón and Heredia, and those that will be remodeled are located in downtown San José, Alajuela and in Multicentro de Desamparados.

Nacion.com reviews that "... The openings of Guachipelín de Escazú and Limón will be in a broader concept (Free Standing format) that will have self-service and areas for games and parties. The restaurant of Heredia will be built under the modality In line, of smaller size and with a modern design."

Isidro Perera, general manager of KFC Costa Rica, said that "... They perceive great potential for continued growth within and outside the GAM (Greater Metropolitan Area). Our goal is also to gradually cover more areas and bring the best chicken to all regions of the country."

In December 2018, CentralAmericaData reported that companies planning to expand their restaurant chain in Costa Rica during 2019 included Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, McDonald's, Subway, KFC and QSR International, and their main bet for further expansion will be to move into smaller locations.
