The National Port Company (ENP) inaugurated a pier with a ramp that can simultaneously received three medium-sized ships.

$225 Million Expansion at Port Cortés

The Honduran Port Authority (ENP in Spanish) has announced it is to invest $225 million in improving the port's facilities.

ENP head, Maynor Pinto, explained that the Cortés Port initiative will be financed by funds from the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) and the World Bank, commenting that in around three months the first $40 million are expected.

Honduras Plans to Expand Port of Cortés

The port authority is working on a $225 million shipping terminal expansion project.

The head of Honduras' national ports authority (ENP in Spanish), Mynor Pinto, indicated that the project comprises the fitting out of a grain terminal and another for cruise ships.

The funds invested will be overseen by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI).

Guatemala: New Project to Enlarge Port Quetzal

It comprises enlarging the port and preparing it to receive Post Panamax vessels.

Works include increasing depth at the south dock and at the main pier, reported Julio García, from Quetzal Port Corporation.

As a result, the south pier will measure 300 meters long and 14 meters deep.

Nicaraguan Port of Cabezas to be Enlarged

A new dock, measuring 1 kilometer long and 10 meters deep will allow cargo ships up to 15.000 tons.

This new dock, located in the city of Bilwi (Puerto Cabezas), will help the country increase commerce at its Atlantic coastline, reported Virgilio Silva, head of the National Ports Corporation.
