Posts will be set up in peripheral positions with third party countries, an integrated post in Agua Caliente, and free movement posts in El Florido and Entre Rios-Corinth.

From a statement issued by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of Guatemala:


This morning new schemes were agreed that will increase efficiency at border points between Guatemala and Honduras, allowing greater transparency in the process and preventing customs staff from behaving with discretion.

Guatemala, September 3, 2015. During the V Round of negotiations on the Guatemala-Honduras customs union, in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, which continues to this day in the neighboring country, the technical teams agreed to implement 10 peripheral posts in the short term, 5 for each country.

The Minister of Economy of Guatemala, Ricardo Sagastume Morales said that "during this fifth round technical groups will be working on the final versions of the procedures for Peripherals Posts, Integrated Posts and Freedom of Movement posts. Honduras and Guatemala Integrate Custom Offices

The treaty is consistent with the legal instruments of Central American economic integration and the general framework of the treaty for the establishment of a customs union between Guatemala and Honduras and will allow for the free movement of natural persons between the two countries.

Customs Union in the Northern Triangle

October 2015

It has been announced that El Salvador will join the process being undertaken by Honduras and Guatemala to integrate customs posts between the three countries.

Guatemala, October 22, 2015. After a meeting between the Ministers of the Northern Triangle, it was confirmed that El Salvador will join the Customs Union efforts which have been initiated by Guatemala and Honduras.

Agreement to Integrate Customs Offices of Panama and Costa Rica

September 2015

The aim is to implement the operation of customs offices of both countries in the same physical space, with the control of goods and passengers being carried out simultaneously.

The agreement between the customs authorities of Panama and Costa Rica includes recommendations, designs and procedural logic for an Integrated Control Center (CCI), to be constructed on the borders of Paso Canoas and Guabito-Sixaola.
