New Food Distribution Center in Costa Rica

Walmart launched a new distribution center for vegetables, fruits, vegetables and grains in Coris, Cartago.

The company reported that the new distribution center has the capacity to serve 140 agricultural producers per day, is located on a 150,000 m2 lot and the construction area is 24.000 m2.

Nacion.com details that "... the building has three independent buildings: one for washing crates, another for the collection and processing of vegetables and fruits, and a third warehouse for the storage and processing of grains."

The article adds that "... the project has harvesting and water filtration systems for washing plastic baskets. In addition, to prevent flooding there are two retention ponds, each with the capacity to store the equivalent of three Olympic swimming pools. It also has a centralized cooling system that prevents the possibility of contaminating the products with refrigerant gases."

According to the company, nearly $55 million was invested in the new distribution center.
