New Beer Brand in Costa Rica

Brewer "Cervecería Costa Rica" will launch a low alcohol beer under the Bremen brand.

The Bremen brand had been previously marketed in Costa Rica by company "Cervecería Americana".

"To create Bremen beer, special malts are mixed when processing", reports Elfinancierocr.com, "[parent company] Florida [Ice & Farm] intends to attract an occasional drinker audience and women looking for low energy beverages (95.5 calories) and a pleasant flavor".

Florida Ice & Farm Buys Brewery in USA

Cerveceria Costa Rica, a subsidiary of Florida Ice and Farm, has agreed to buy, at a cost of $388 million, North American Breweries Holdings, the largest independent brewer in the U.S.

A statement from Florida Ice and Farm reads:

The Costa Rican company Florida Ice and Farm Co., SA ("FIFCO") announced today that its subsidiary Cerveceria Costa Rica, SA ("CCR") has signed an agreement to purchase North American Breweries Holdings, LLC and its subsidiaries ("NAB"), the largest independent brewer in the United States, owned by KPS Capital Partners, LP for $388 million. The closing of the transaction is subject to requirements laid out in a competition defense notification by Hart-Scott-Rodinoy to be reviewed by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission.

'Cervecería Costa Rica' Expands China Distribution

Since entering the Chinese market in January, the Costa Rican brewer has expanded its reach to six provinces.

To date they have exported 50 containers, each one with 1.512 boxes of 24 bottles, reported Gisela Sánchez, company executive.

"The company [Florida Ice & Farm] entered China by signing an alliance with brewer Tsingtao and also with distribution company Powsun, one of the top dealers of that brand in the Asian country", reported Nacion.com.

Brewery allince unites Costa Ricans and Guatemalans

An alliance between Cervecería Centroamericana de Guatemala and Cervecería Costa Rica will allow the two to expand the range of options available to beer drinkers.

The agreement seeks to satisfy the demand for new products in the brewing niche of both countries. They plan to do this with the appearance in the Costa Rican market of the Gallo brand, and of the Imperial brand in Guatemala.

Guatemalan brewer Cervecería Centro Americana has begun to import and distribute Costa Rica's leading beer, Imperial.

Imperial will be marketed in Costa Rica as a premium, imported brand.
