New $70 Million Hospital in Panama

A new $70 million regional hospital will be built in 2011 in the village of Los Santos.

For the remainder of this year, the Health Ministry will conduct studies and draft the blueprints of the new Hospital, whose construction is scheduled to begin in 2011.

It is estimated that construction of the new facilities will take three years, meaning that the current hospital will remain operational.

The new hospital will be built on the site of the former headquarters of the U.S. embassy, and will be joined to the old hospital, being very close together.

$100 Million for Hospital in Costa Rica

The Costa Rican Social Security Office (CCSS) will build a 6-floor tower of 17,500 square meters for the Hospital Calderón Guardia.

The bid for the construction of the new tower is to initiate at the beginning of 2010, and they foresee that the building will be finished within five years. The bid will also include the construction of an additional building of 5,000 square meters for nutrition services and a cloakroom.
