Motorcycles in Guatemala: $117 Million in Purchases

From January to September 2019, motorcycle imports into the Central American country reached $117 million, and 80% of total purchases were made from companies in China and India.

Variation in Imports
Between January and September 2018 and the same period in 2019, the value of motorcycle imports into Guatemala decreased from $127 million to $117 million.

For the periods in question, the value imported from China decreased slightly, from $54.5 million to $53.8 million, and from India decreased 11%, from $49 million to $44 million.

Origin of Imports
In the first nine months of 2019, 46% of the value imported from Guatemala came from China, 38% from India, 6% from the United States and 2% from Japan.

India is the market of origin of the imports that has grown the most for the months in question in the last eight years. In 2012 it represented 34% of the total value imported, and in 2019 it reached 38%.

Guatemala Buys More Motorcycles From India

September 2018

In the first quarter of the year the Central American country bought $17 million worth of motorcycles from the Asian country, 70% more than in the same period in 2017.
