Motorcycles: Purchases from India Fall 19%

From January to March 2019, Central American imports of motorcycles totaled $103 million, and purchases from companies in India decreased by 19% over the same period in 2018.

Slight Decline in Central American Market
Between the first quarter of 2018 and the same period in 2019, the value imported into the region decreased by 5%, from $109 million to $103 million.

For the periods in question, purchases from Indian companies also fell, in this case by 19%, from $31 million to $25 million.

Guatemala, Main Importer
In the first three months of the year, the main importer in the region continued to be Guatemala, with $43 million, followed by Honduras, with $27 million, El Salvador, with $13 million, Costa Rica with $12 million, Nicaragua with $5 million and Panama, with $3 million.

Main Suppliers
From January to March 56% of the value imported from Central America was from China, 25% from India, 4% from the USA, 4% from Japan and 2% from Germany.
