More Online Sales in Guatemala

The trade union of electronic commerce reports that the number of companies in the country that sell via the internet has grown mainly in the last two years, to reach 750.

Representatives from the union reported that between 2016 and 2017, the number of companies in the country that use the internet to sell products grew by 200%.

Regarding the upward trend of this type of sales, Juan José Castillo, president of the Trade Association of Electronic Commerce of Guatemala, told Dca.gob.gt that " ... the market is dominated by eBay and Amazon, however, the fact that customers are demanding contact with a local company is changing the trend."

The article adds that " ...This sector contributed Q2.3 billion ($313 million) in 2015, according to eBay."
