More Mobile Phone Users

In the fourth quarter of 2017, mobile telephone lines in Honduras totaled just over 8.2 million subscribers, registering an increase of 5% compared to the third quarter of the same year.

According to a report by the National Telecommunications Commission (Conatel), at the end of 2017 of the total number of mobile telephony subscribers in the country, 662,652 subscribers were using the Post-payment format, representing 8% of the total subscribers, while 7,570,847 corresponded to the Pre-payment format, representing 92% of the total.

The document adds that the mobile telephony density, which corresponds to the number of mobile telephone lines per 100 inhabitants, reached a 93% at the end of this quarter of the year, which means that 92 out of 100 Hondurans have a mobile telephone line. Growth of 4.2% was reported with respect to the density of the previous quarter.

"... The total mobile traffic originated from the mobile telephony networks was 3,453 million minutes, an increase of 5.4% with respect to the previous quarter. Total mobile traffic terminated by mobile telephony networks was 3.37 billion minutes, showing a growth of 2.84% compared to the previous quarter."

Guatemala: Fixed Lines Growing Faster Than Cell Phone Lines

January 2017

Between December 2015 and June 2016 the number of fixed telephone lines grew by 40%, while the number of mobile lines grew by only 3% in the same period.

Figures from the Superintendency of Telecommunications in Guatemala show that the number of fixed telephones lines went from 1,710,000 in December 2015 to 2,400,000 in June last year, while the total number of mobile lines increased from 18.1 million to 18.6 million.
