In Costa Rica, the manufacturer of medical devices for continence and ostomy, Coloplast, has announced that it will be building a manufacturing plant in La Lima free zone, in Cartago.

Coloplast is a global leader in products for ostomy and continence, and is one of the best performaning medical device companies in the world, growing at twice the speed of the market.Growth in demand for devices requires greater production capacity.

In January 2019, Coloplast will start operating in a temporary location, located next to what will be its new manufacturing plant. This will create the organizational bases for future expansion and it will let us get to know the local business environment.During the first two years, Coloplast expects to employ approximately 100 workers.
The medical device manufacturer Precision Concepts Medical Technologies will invest $5 million in the construction and operation of a new plant in Costa Rica.
According to the Costa Rican Coalition of Development Initiatives (Cinde), the health sector company's investment will focus on the construction of a building and the implementation of state-of-the-art technology.
The Irish manufacturer of medical devices by contract, Advant Medical, announced its intention to expand its operations with the installation of a plant in Costa Rica.

With a $15 million investment, the US company Microtechnologies has expanded its specialized device production plant located in Coyol de Alajuela, Costa Rica.
The company specializes in the design and manufacture of critical miniature components that change the market through its use in platforms such as engine management systems, invasive surgical devices and safety controls for occupants.
With an investment of $55 million the global company Smith and Nephew has started operating a new plant in Alajuela for manufacturing orthopedic devices.
