Guillen added that the increase in the number of flights "... will allow Panama, through the Tourism Promotion Fund (Promtur), to develop promotional campaigns to show the Chinese population the tourist attractions that the country has, in search of increasing the arrival of visitors from China as well as from other Asian countries, which will translate into a greater hotel occupation and a greater economic spillover in the country."

The air route between the two countries has been in operation for almost two years, as the first Air China flight arrived at Tocumen International Airport on April 5, 2018.
