More European Travelers Using Tocumen

Between January and May 2017, 102,388 passengers from Europe entered Panama through Tocumen International Airport, 25% more than in the same period in 2016.

From a statement issued by the Tourism Authority of Panama:
 
From January to May 2017, a total of 102,388 passengers from Europe came into the country through Tocumen International Airport, some 20,754 more than in the same period in 2016, a growth of 25.4%.
 
The European airlines that increased passenger revenue in this period of 2017 were: Iberia, with a total of 30,677 passengers, about 7,388 more than in 2016, with a growth of 31.7%; and Lufthansa, with a total of 21,715 passengers, about 7,713 more than in 2016, increasing by 55.1%.
 
Air France followed with a total of 24,311 passengers, about 3,370 more than in 2016, with a growth of 16.1%; and Turkish, with 3,202 passengers, about 2,544 more than in 2016.

Last year almost 228,000 visitors from Europe came to the country, 8% more than the figure recorded in 2016.

The European airlines that increased passenger revenue in 2017 were: Iberia, with a total of 69,381 passengers, some 9,501 more than in 2016, with a growth of 15.9%; and KLM, with a total of 55,519 passengers, about 2,044 more than in 2016, an increase of 3.8%. 

Costa Rica Wants More Italian Tourists

Through an agreement with Iberia flight connections will be improved from Rome and Milan to Madrid - San José, in order to connect both cities with San Jose.

A statement from the Costa Rican Tourism Institute says that in order to improve conditions of the connections between Madrid and the Italian cities of Rome and Milan, the airline Iberia will be taking the following measures:

Panama: Tourists Arrivals From Europe Up 20%

In the first four months of the year there were 73,788 European visitors, with Spain leading the list with 19,561 tourists, followed by the French with 10,553 and the Germans with 8,221.

According to figures from the Tourism Authority of Panama, European tourists are spending more per day and on average their stays are for 9.3 days.

Transit Through Tocumen Airport Up 12%

In 2013 more than 7 million passengers passed through the Panamanian International Airport, 744,000 more than in the previous year.

Data from the Department of Statistics at Tocumen International Airport (TIA) reveals that passenger movement this December was 1.8 million, up 6.1% compared to the same month in 2012.
