Guatemala and Costa Rica, the main importers
In the first nine months of 2018, the main buyers in the region were Guatemala and Costa Rica, with $7 million each, Honduras, with $5 million, Panama, with $3 million, El Salvador, with $2 million, and Nicaragua, with one million dollars.

Regional business upwards

Between January and September 2017 and the same period in 2018, the value imported from microwave ovens in Central America increased 6%, from $24 million to $25.4 million.

This increase contrasts with the year-on-year fall reported in the first nine months of 2017, when there was a 5% decrease.



China and USA, the most important suppliers
In the first nine months of last year, 71% of the value imported into the region was from China, 9% from the U.S., 8% from Malaysia and 1% from Mexico.

Malaysia is the market of origin of imports that has grown the most for the months concerned in the last seven years, since in 2012 it represented 4% of total purchases in Central America, and in 2018 that proportion rose to 8%.
