Mexicana Cancels Flight to Costa Rica

The airline has suspended the flight covering the San José - Cancún route until further notice.

The company has announced that one of its San José - Mexico flights has been suspended leaving just one flight at 7:15am from Costa Rica.

"The changes to flights are part of the cut backs that Mexicana announced yesterday. Mexico's second biggest airline, said that due to the fact that its financial situation has seriously detoriated it will begin a 'gradual reduction' in its flight operations," writes La Prensa Libre.

Mexicana will Resume Operations

To date, the initial plan to begin operations on January 24th continues.

The announcement was made by Javier Lozano Alarcón, the Mexican Labor Secretary, in a press conference.

"However, he said, in the coming days in a meeting with the Secretary of Communications and Transportation, Juan Molinar, and everyone else involved, other issues will be defined like maintaining the same investors or add others," Yahoo News reports.

Mexicana Cancels Flight to Guatemala

The struggling airline has stopped operating one of its three flights between Mexico and Guatemala City.

The flight 377-376 operated three days a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

"Sergio Armado Sierra, general manager of Guatemala City's La Aurora airport stated that Mexicana's operation of the remaining flights is unchanged," reports Prensalibre.com.

Mexican Airline Suspends Ticket Sale

The carrier has announced that it will continue to fly, in order to protect passengers that already have tickets and scheduled flight itineraries.

The Mexican Airline, Mexicana (CMA), has announced that it has filed a request to initiate bankruptcy proceedings with Mexico City's district judge, as well as a request for the proceedings to be authorized by a New York court.

Mexicana Inaugurates San Jose - Cancun Flight

The air route opened yesterday, offering 4 weekly frequencies on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Airline Mexicana will operate this route with Airbus A318 planes, capable of 124 passengers.

This route will allow the company "to offer additional connections, through its Connections Hub in Cancun, to any city in the United States, specially in the East Coast, such as Washington, Chicago, Miami, New York, and in the Caribbean, like La Habana and San Juan, Puerto Rico", reported Nicaraguahoy.info.
