Variation in exports
In the first six months of 2018, the total value of exports of metalliferous minerals from Central America increased 39% over the same period last year, from $38 million to $52 million.

This growth is because Mexico's exports to the U.S. increased from $3.4 million to $16.9 million.

Exports by country
In the first half of 2018, Honduras was still the largest exporter of metalliferous minerals, selling $43 million, followed by Guatemala with $8 million and El Salvador with $1.1 million. Nicaragua and Costa Rica recorded foreign sales of less than one million. Panama did not report exports.

Destination of exports
From January to June 2018, 32% of Central American sales went to Mexico, 26% to Belgium, 12% to Australia and 12% to South Korea.
