More business between Costa Rica and Japan

Because of sales of medical and precision equipment, exports between January and August 2018 increased by 173% compared to the same period in 2015.

According to figures from the Foreign Trade Promoter (Procomer), in the first eight months of 2015 the sales of the Central American nation to Japan totaled $59 million, a figure that has practically tripled, as reported in the same period of this year, when exports reached $162 million.

Medical Device Plant Investment

The medical device manufacturer Precision Concepts Medical Technologies will invest $5 million in the construction and operation of a new plant in Costa Rica.

According to the Costa Rican Coalition of Development Initiatives (Cinde), the health sector company's investment will focus on the construction of a building and the implementation of state-of-the-art technology.

Spanish company "Emergencias 2000" started operations in the country.

It supplies ambulances and diverse medical care equipment and technology. Based on Madrid, it operates in Spain, Portugal, U.S. and now Panama.

José Tabares, General Manager of "Emergencia 2000" Panama, told local newspaper La Estrella that "they intend to be known as the quality leader in medical equipment".
