Meeting Bewteen Obama and Region Presidents

President Obama will have a meeting exclusively with Central American leaders in Trinidad and Tobago on April 19.

The meeting between the presidents will be held immediately after the Summit of the Americas, according to a press release by the First Lady of Nicaragua, Rosario Murillo, in an article published in

Journalist Tim Rogers wrote: "The United States Embassy in Managua confirmed the meeting with Obama, indicating that the invitation from the White House to meet with the Central American Presidents was extended via the acting President of SICA (System of Central American Integration), Daniel Ortega."

The vice president of the United States will meet with isthmus leaders during his visit to Costa Rica on March 29 and 30.

The Costa Rican president, Oscar Arias, summoned his counterparts from El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama. He announced that he will also invite the prime minister of Belize and the winner of next Sunday’s presidential elections in El Salvador.

The visit would be a continuation of the official's participation in a meeting of leaders in Chile, scheduled for March 27 and 28.

This would be the first official visit to Latin America by an official from the Obama administration.
