Medicines: How is the Institutional Market Performing?

Agencia Farmaceutica S.A., Corporacion Impa Doel S.A., Hispomedica SRL and Cefa Central Farmaceutica are among the companies that won contracts last year to supply medicines and pharmaceutical products to public health institutions in the region.

An analysis by CentralAmericaData's Business Intelligence department provides interesting data on the companies that in 2020 were awarded contracts to supply pharmaceutical products and medical supplies to the different Ministries of Health and Social Security entities in Central American countries and the Dominican Republic.

The data collected show that in Guatemala, J.I. Cohen S.A. continues to be one of the main suppliers of medicines to public institutions. Agencia Farmaceutica S.A., Medicamentos Avanzados S.A., Servicio de Comercios Interanacional S.A. and Compania Farmaceutica Lanquetin, are other companies that won most of the contracts tendered last year.

According to the information system, the main suppliers of medical and pharmaceutical products in Panama include Corporacion Impa Doel S.A., Nutrimed Panamá S.A., Reprico S.A., Pharma Chimique de Panamá S.A., Vitalis de Panama S.A. and U.S. Pharmacy Systems.

In Costa Rica, some of the companies contracted by the government were Cefa Central Farmaceutica, Grupo Lauher S.A., Abbott Healthcare S.A., Inversiones Acifolium Limitada, Medical Center S.A., among others.

In the institutional market of the Dominican Republic, SAAD Medical SRL, Hispomedica SRL, Hospifar SRL, Novartis Caribe S.A., Medek Pharma S.A., Macrotech Farmaceutica SRL and Laboratorio Laprofar SRL are reported as suppliers of health entities.
