Medical Device Industry Event

On October 15 and 16, Costa Rica will host an international congress for companies in the life sciences sector.

From a statement issued by the Cinde:

San Jose Costa Rica. May 17, 2018.  On October 15 and 16, Costa Rica will be the meeting point for high-level exhibitors in the life sciences
industry, decision makers of the world's leading companies in the sector, key suppliers, consulting firms, among others, in the fourth edition of the Life Sciences Forum Costa Rica 2018, organized by the Costa Rican Coalition of Development Initiatives (CINDE).

On this occasion, the newly opened Convention Center of Costa Rica will be the site that will receive more than 500 people from the United States, Latin America and Europe. 

How does artificial intelligence, automation, mega data or cybersecurity affect the world of medical devices and life sciences? Are global leading medical companies changing to better serve patients in the interconnected world? Is Costa Rica part of these global changes in the industry? These and other topics will be part of the forum whose central theme is: "The convergence of technologies leading the future of the life sciences".

Firms Selling Medicines to Central America

November 2018

Reprico, Labymed, J.J. Cohen, Novartis and Nipro Medical Corporation are some of the firms supplying medicines to public health institutions in the region.

Figures from the information system, "Public Purchases in the Health Sector" developed by the Trade Intelligence area of CentralAmericaData, details the list of companies favored with contracts to provide pharmaceutical products and medical supplies in tenders published between July 2017 and June 2018, by the several Ministries of Health and Social Security of Central American countries.

Costa Rica Plans Investments in Medical Infrastructure

April 2017

In the next five years the Costa Rican Social Security Institution plans to invest about $1.8 billion in building new infrastructure and purchase of medical equipment.

The aim of the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) is to start to reverse the significant backlog there is in terms of building infrastructure, due to the decline in investment registered with the entity from about 2010.

Defibrillators Award for $3.1 million

November 2014

The Administrative Board of the National Registry of Costa Rica has selected Consorcio Interamericano Caribe de Exportación for the purchase of two Automatic External Defibrillators.

On November 18 the award was given to the company Inter Consorcio Interamericano Caribe de Exportación Sociedad Anónima for the purchase of two AEDs, in the amount of $3.1 million.
