Meco Awarded Ring Road Tender

The government of Nicaragua has signed a contract with the Costa Rican company Meco for the construction of 6.8 kilometers of road for $11.5 million.

Nicaraguahoy.info reports that "The Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure of Nicaragua, Fernando Martinez, signed in Masaya, along with the representative of the Costa Rican company Meco, Omar Jimenez Araya, an agreement for the construction of a 6.8 km ring road for international transit in the city of Masaya, through which 80 percent of the regional cargo passes through. "

Martinez explained that "the primary objective of the government to make this work is to ensure the life of the population, for this reason we are making this bypass road with a length of 6.8 km and the cost of construction is 275 million cordobas', as published on the official site El 19. He added that the costs of overseeing the work for quality control is indicated in the contract documents, 9 million cordobas, bringing the total investment to 284 million cordobas.

This stretch, 30.4 kilometers long, runs from Cuidad Barrios up to Osicala, in San Miguel, and from Delicias, Concepción to Cacaopera in Morazán.
