The Agency for Promotion of Exports and Investments in El Salvador (PROESA) has given a lecture on market research services for exporters in the seminar-workshop entitled "Market Intelligence" organized by Coexport.

Is there opportunity to export my product? Where can export it to? Who are my competitors? At what price can I sell? Who are my potential customers? What is the profile of my potential buyers? These are questions that every company should consider when starting an export business. In order to answer them PROESA is providing support to companies with database information and visits to research the target market, explained Juan Carlos Lopez, Manager of Market Intelligence from PROESA in a seminar-workshop called "Market Intelligence" organized by Coexport .

"The market rstudies are exploratory investigations to show whether a product or service has potential in the target market," said Lopez. This research is based on a series of questions answered by a counterpart, which can be an importer, distributor, manufacturer or an outlet regarding a range of products sold by an organizational sales force releated to incoterms for purchases and payment methods, and also about the tastes and preferences of consumers.

El Salvador: Proposal to Increase Exports

The Exporters Corporation has created a plan to increase exports to $10 billion a year within five years.  

Entrepreneurs believe that if the correct measures are applied export earnings could double within five years. According to Pablo Duran, president of the Exporters Association of El Salvador (COEXPORT), the proposal gives potential annual growth of 20%.

In 2011 sales of Salvadoran services abroad totaled $1.1 billion, 10% more than in 2010.

The Agency for Promotion of Exports and Investments in El Salvador, PROESA, today (Wednesday 24th) held the 1st International Forum on Export of Services in order to raise awareness of global trends, the outlook for the region and the country as well of some of the success stories of exporters of services. The Forum's main purpose was to stimulate more interest by Salvadoran firms to venture into this activity with high growth potential.
