The Diverse Manufacturing Sector represents 17% of Guatemala's total exports. Products such as paper and cardboard manufactures, pharmaceutical products, insecticides, fungicides and disinfectants and diverse products of the chemical industry have added a $2.5 billion foreign exchange income for foreign sales, informed the Guatemalan Association of Exporters (Agexport).

According to Evelyn Gutiérrez, coordinator of the Diverse Manufactures Commission, "... products from the Diverse Manufactures sector reach important markets such as: Central America (55%), United States (16%), Panama (7%), Mexico (6%), Dominican Republic (3%) and Belize (2%). Also, some target markets are South America: Ecuador, Colombia, Peru and Brazil."

The article details that "... The Diverse Manufactures Commission of AGEXPORT projects a 3% growth in the exports of the sector for 2019, through the development of strategic lines: rules and regulations, development of new products and market intelligence, business opportunities for the sale of raw materials and inputs, opportunities for new markets for finished products and representativeness and expediting of export processes."

Gutiérrez added that "... By 2019, we have defined the strategic topics of the business segments grouped by the commission, being the following: pharmaceutical products, footwear, rubber and foam, chemicals, agrochemicals, printed material, packaging, metalworking, construction products, care products such as toilet paper, napkins, diapers, among other manufactured products, with the aim of strengthening them to boost their exports."
