Manufacturing Business Fair

250 international buyers are expected to do business with craftsmen and manufacturing companies in the two trade fairs scheduled for September 26 and 27 in Guatemala.

A call has gone out to SMEs from the sectors of food and beverages, hygiene and personal care, home cleaning, plastic products, cosmetics, and other diverse manufacturers to take part in the business conference that will take place on the 26th and 27th of September 2018 in Antigua, Guatemala.

Prensalibre.com reports that "...NWC is expected to bring buyers from stores, boutiques and marketers of handmade products, both from America and Europe. The event is being organized by the Handmade Commission of the Guatemalan Association of Exporters (Agexport)."

"... It is expected that 150 buyers from chain stores, supermarkets, distributors, brokers, among others, from the United States, Canada, Colombia, Chile, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Panama, Belize, as well as the Central America and Europe region will come, Agexport reported."

Medical Device Plant Expanded

Microvention Terrumo, manufacturer of neuroendovascular devices, will be expanding its plant in Costa Rica, in order to increase the product lines and units that it exports from the country.

The new facilities are expected to start operating during the third quarter of this year.

The German company Heraeus Medical Components has started operating, in Cartago, Costa Rica, a production plant for medical devices, including guidewires and catheters for cardiovascular access.

CARTAGO, Costa Rica - February 1, 2018   - Heraeus Medical Components today celebrated the grand opening of its new production plant with state-of-the-art technology, which highlights its commitment to its global clients, with innovation and growth in Costa Rica. Recognized as one of the leading providers of medical supplies in the world, the Heraeus operation in Cartago will play a key role in manufacturing its Finished Devices business line. This line includes guidewires and catheters for cardiovascular access. To meet the needs of its clients, which are always evolving, Costa Rica is now part of the global operation of Heraeus Medical Components, which has facilities in Germany, Switzerland, the United States, Puerto Rico and Singapore.  

Costa Rica: $58 million to Manufacture Lenses

June 2016

Operations have started at a plant in Alajuela owned by the company CooperVision, which manufactures soft contact lenses.

From a statement issued by the CINDE:

Coyol, Alajuela, June 15, 2016. CooperVision, an American company which is a leading manufacturer of soft contact lenses, today opened its new manufacturing facility in Coyol in Alajuela, where it will produce and distribute -initially to different regions of America and then the rest of the world - a line of silicone lenses for everyday use.

Bridgestone to Buy more Raw Materials from Guatemala

Company president said he discussed increasing current orders of 600 tons per month.

Guatemala is the largest supplier of natural rubber for Bridgestone in Costa Rica. About 600 tons of rubber of the 1.000 tons per month used, are produced by plants from small farmers in Guatemala.
