Manufacturing Activity at Historical High

Between the months of May 2017 and 2018, the Monthly Index of Manufacturing Activity in the Dominican Republic registered an increase of 6%, rising from 62.6 to 66.5.

The Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD) reported that "... The Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD)'s Monthly Index of Manufacturing Activity (IMAM) amounted to 66.5, a historical high for the last year. It has been over the 50.0 barrier for four months."

"Regarding the behavior of the IMAM according to the size of companies, it can be seen that the Index rose in mid sized, medium and large companies. In micro companies, it went from 43.9 to 48.3 (still remaining below the 50.0 barrier). In medium sized companies it went from 60.2 to 63.3 and in large companies from 64.1 to 69.6. It descended in small companies (16-60 employees), going from 68.6 to 67.0."

The report adds that " ... Regarding the variables examined, in January all were maintained over 50.0 points. The Sales Volume went from 67.8 in April to 71.9 in May. Production Volume went from 63.8 in April to 75.0 in May. Employment went from 55.9 in April to 55.2 in May (decreasing slightly). Inventory of Raw Materials went from 57.9 to 58.3, and Delivery Time to Suppliers went from 47.4 to 55.2 (remaining over 50.0, for the first time since December 2017). "

Dominican Republic: Manufacturing Activity Up 15%

Due to an increase in production and sales, in August of this year the Monthly Index of Manufacturing Activity registered an increase of 15% with respect to the same month in 2017.

The Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD) reported that the Monthly Index of Manufacturing Activity (IMAM) increased slightly from 58.4 in July to 61.5 in August, remaining for the seventh consecutive month over the barrier of 50.0 and following the trend shown in previous years for this period.

Explained by an increase in production and sales, in July of this year the Monthly Index of Manufacturing Activity registered a 12% increase compared to July 2018.

The Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD) reported that the Monthly Index of Manufacturing Activity (IMAM), increased slightly from 55.6 in the month of June to 58.4 in the month of July, but remains for the sixth consecutive month over the barrier of 50.0 

Dominican Republic: Lull in Manufacturing Activity

July 2018

Explained by decreases in production and sales volumes, in June of this year the Monthly Index of Manufacturing Activity registered a decrease of 16% compared to May 2018.

The Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD) reported that the Monthly Index of Manufacturing Activity (IMAM) fell sharply in June, going from 66.5 in May to 55.6 in June. This is the lowest level in the last five months, although it still remains above the 50.0 barrier.

Strong Recovery in Manufacturing Activity

May 2018

Between the months of April 2017 and 2018, the Monthly Index of Manufacturing Activity in the Dominican Republic registered an increase of 41%, rising from 43.3 to 61.2.

The Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD) reported that   "... The Monthly Index of Manufacturing Activity (IMAM) fell from 64.04 points in March to 61.18 in April 2018, staying above the 50.0 barrier."
