Machinery: Which Companies Negotiate with the Government?

Zebol, Técnica Universal, Cemcol and Airco are some of the companies awarded the most important contracts to supply machinery and tools to public institutions in Central America.

An analysis of CentralAmericaData's Trade Intelligence unit provides data on the companies that during the last year were favored by the region's governments, with contracts to supply different types of machinery and tools.

The information system specifies that among the main suppliers in Costa Rica are Zebol S.A., Aceros Carazo-Reimers, Maquinaria y Tractores Limitadaand Elevadores Schindler S.A..

In Guatemala it is reported that Industria Tecnificada S.A., Técnica Universal S.A., Equitrac S.A. and Aquasistemas are among the companies that according to the awarded amount, received the best contracts last year.

In Panama, some of the main companies contracted by the government were Airco S.A., Iiasa Panamá S.A., Hidro Power System and Transporte y Equipo, among others. In the case of Honduras, Cemcol Comercial S.A. and Camiones y Motores S.A. are reported as suppliers of machinery and tools.

In the $11 million tender to supply dump trucks, compactors, tractors, mechanical blades and other heavy equipment, eleven companies took part.

The companies participating in the tender were: Melo S.A., IIASA Panamá, S.A., empresa Técnica Universal de Panamá S.A., Grupo Tiesa, S.A., Automotora Autostar, S.A., empresa F. Icaza y Compañía, S.A., Cardoze & Lindo, S.A., Airco, S.A., Comercial de Motores, S.A., Equipos Coamco, S.A., and the company Bering Motors.

Offers of Heavy Equipment for $29 million

Twelve companies submitted bids in the tender launched by the Directorate General of Public Procurement of Panama for the purchase, maintenance and training for the use of heavy equipment.

The companies that submitted bids are: Coamco, S.A., Cardoze & Lindo, IIASA, F. Icaza y Cía, S.A., Tiesa, AIRCO, S.A. y Construmarket, Comercial de Motores, S.A., Automotora Autostar, S.A., Resansil, Melo and Grupo Tecun.
