Machinery: Investment in New Service Center

In Costa Rica, the company Matra, dedicated to the commercialization of machinery, invested $25 million in its new facilities in Coyol, Alajuela, with a construction area of 17 thousand m2.

The new facilities were built on a six-hectare site and include a truck workshop, paint shop, warehouse, offices, rental, exhibition area and machinery house.

Nacion.com reports that the center of attention has "... a state-of-the-art laboratory and a space for demonstrations where the client can test the equipment, among other things."

According to Alonso Bogantes, general manager of the company, Matra's objective was "... to create an iconic building in a way that expresses through architecture the leadership that Matra represents in the heavy machinery industry."

The company, which currently has 15 branches located in different parts of the country, sells equipment for construction, agriculture, transportation of goods and people and industry, among others.

About 110 service companies in the free zone generated $1.66 billion in 2011, equivalent to 33% of the county’s total exports.

Convergys Opens Operations in Costa Rica

Convergys, an American company specializing in the service area, opened its third center in the country.

With over 35 thousand square feet, modern facilities at Park Ultra II, will allow the company to add 500 people to its payroll, amounting to 1600 employees in the country and thereby becoming one of the top ten employers in the services area, according to data from CINDE.
