Low export of Salvadoran honey to the EU

Honey production is facing several problems, and has therefore seen a reduction in exports to the European Union.

According to official data from 2003, they produced 2,304 metric tones of honey in the country. In 2007 it was at 44.5% less. Similarly, exports have shown the same tendency. In 2003 they exported 1,843 metric tones to Central America and Europe, but in 2007 it was at 946 metric tones (48.67% less).

Salvadoran Exports Down 17.4%

The country sold $3.219 in the first 10 months of 2009, down from $3.907 million in the same period of 2009.

Traditional exports dropped 2.3%, with $310.4 million in sales.

"Coffee was the hardest-hit: it sold $24.6 million less than last year, a 10.3% decrease", reported Laprensagrafica.com.

Salvadoran Exports Down 17%

In the first half of the year $2.3 billion were exported, 17% less than the same period of 2008.

The country received $269.2 million for 'traditional' products (coffee, cotton, sugar and shrimp), according to data from the Central Bank.

"... for 'non-traditional' products (minerals, food, iron and steel products, water, paper, non alcohol beverages, among others), the country received $1.146 million", reported Mipunto.com.

Exports Fall 9.5% in Nicaragua

Exports added up to $747 million between January and June compared to $825 million from the same period in 2008.

The Center for Processing Exports (CETEX, acronym in Spanish) also informed that the volume of exports fell by 5% in the same period.

Prensa Libre publishes on its website: “The volume of exports added up to 751,383.3 metric tons between January and June 2009, while during the same period in 2008 it was 791,465.1 metric tons, said the source.”

Panamanian Exports Decreased 4% in 2008

Upon the closing of 2008, 1,497 million kilograms of fruits, meats, shellfish, clothes and petroleum by-products were exported.

Prensa.com reports: "This represented a fall of 4.1% compared to the figures of 2007, according to the data from the General Comptroller’s Office of the Republic. The results contrast with the previous period since, between 2006 and 2007, exports had a growth of 13.4%."
