Livestock and Tourism Attract Chinese

The third round of talks between China and Costa Rica will take place in Liberia, in direct contact with those industries.

From June 15 – 19, a third round of negotiations for the FTA will take place in Liberia, Guanacaste. The setting will be used to show "Chinese entrepreneurs the development of tourism infrastructure and farm production of beef there."

Foreign Trade Minister, Marco Vinicio Ruiz, told Nacion.com that "that visit by the Chinese is being expected to coincide with the round of talks."

Additionally, the Costa Rican negotiators will “take the public and animal health negotiators to the farms to learn about developments in the field and controls in Costa Rican livestock production."

Costa Rica - Singapore FTA Round Takes Off

From Monday, April 20 to Wednesday, April 22, the first round of negotiations for the FTA will take place in Singapore.

By this being the first round of negotiations, "the countries will hold an initial exchange of preliminary views, interests and objectives for the negotiation," said Fernando Ocampo, chief negotiator for Costa Rica, to Elfinancierocr.com.
