Liquor Production Increases 7.1% in Panama

In the first 9 months of 2009, alcoholic beverages companies produced 177.3 million liters, 7.1% more than the same period of last year.

According to data from the Economics and Finance Ministry, the main driver of this growth was beer: 35.8 million have been produced so far 2009, 15.85% more than last year.

"Beer consumption per capita stands at 64 annual liters, the second highest in Latin America", reported Pa-digital.com.pa.

Production of Alcoholic Beverages Up 5%

Led by a rise in beer brewing, in the first quarter of 2018 the production of alcoholic beverages in Panama amounted to 77.8 million liters, 5% more than in the same period in 2017.

According to figures from the General Comptroller of the Republic, production of alcoholic beverages in general registered a year-on-year increase of 5%, rising from 74.2 million liters from January to March 2017, to 77.8 million liters in the same period in 2018.

During the past year production amounted to 309 million liters, 8% more than production in 2016, with gin having the largest increase.

According to figures from the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic, production of alcoholic beverages in 2017 grew 8% in year-on-year terms, rising from 285 million liters in 2016 to 308 million liters in 2017. 

Increased Competition in Guatemalan Beer Market

The Danish brand Carlsberg and Kronenbourg from France are to compete in the premium beer market.

The Carlsberg representative for Central America and director of Group Pivo indicated that there are plans to import about 650 thousand liters next year, of which they hope to sell 260,000 in the region.
